What we want is to see the child in pursuit of knowledge, and not knowledge in pursuit of the child. ~George Bernard Shaw
The weekend round up
Another weekend has come and gone, they move so quickly it seems. This past one was really lovely. Saturday was Michaelmas and just as we have done in the past, we kept it simple. We were gifted a gloriously sunny crisp day, the most perfect Fall day. The morning was filled with two little boys running around with swords in hand defending the house from Dragons. We read our favorite St. George and the Dragon book. We baked Dragon bread, using our favorite recipe from Baking Bread with Children, we made a roasted chicken for supper and finished it all up with a Spiced Applesauce Cake. We stayed up a bit later than normal to see if we could catch a glimpse of the Harvest moon, but the clouds were rolling in and made it impossible. Oh well, next year!
We also checked a few things off the “to do” list. Not as many as I had hoped for, but some of the smaller things were done. You know the ones, like a hook that was pulled out of the wall way back in May and you have been picking up the hat and mitt organizer that was hanging on said hook since May and you keep saying “I should really just hang that hook up”, those things got done. And please tell me I am not the only one who has a whole list of these little things!
We also got a bit more done in our “school area”. It still has a ways to go, but it is getting there slowly. The rest of the weekend was spent playing outside, as it should be. Autumn is in all of her glory here with leaves of crimson, orange and gold. It seems the dry summer was at least good for one thing, it makes for a spectacular fall colour show.
Here’s hoping the rest of the week is as productive and happy as this weekend!

I am Jennifer. I am a wife and stay at home mother to two little boys. We are a homeschooling, co sleeping, nature loving bunch and I hope you enjoy reading about our adventures.
